NPA Terrorist Died in an Encounter in Camarines Norte

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur—Soldiers from the 9th Infantry Battalion and members of CPP-NPA terrorists clashed in Brgy Itok, Capalonga, Camarines Norte, on their Anniversary, Thursday, March 29, around 11:55 AM.

Based on the report, operating troops from the said unit were sent to the said area to verify the information regarding the presence of more or less 30 terrorists from Larangan 1, Komiteng Probinsya 1 of Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC).

The said firefight lasted for about 20 minutes before the enemy withdrew towards the direction of Brgy Lucbanan of the same municipality. Leaving behind one dead communist terrorist, one M16 rifle, two improvised landmines, 50 meters electrical wire, medical supplies, food supplies, and personal belongings. There was no casualty reported on the government side while pursuit operations are still ongoing.

Prior to the said incident, concerned citizens from the said barangay reported that the said terrorist group conducted check point and displayed banners in connection with their anniversary.

In the official statement of 9ID, the Command confirmed that they had intensified their combat operations to thwart any possible atrocities that will be launched by the NPA terrorists in line with their 49th Anniversary wherein they usually mark the said occasion with attacks against vulnerable people and communities.

Major General Jesus A. Manangquil Jr AFP once again called upon the remaining NPA members to lay down their arms and abandon the armed struggle so that peace and development in the region will be attained. He further said that the use violence to effect change is not the best solution to address societal issues and concerns. Instead, he encouraged the NPAs to avail the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) being offered by our government so that they can join in developmental initiatives that will really make difference in our society.

In addition, the Commander once again stressed out that fight against terrorism and the preservation of peace is a shared responsibility of everyone.
