Army, NPA Terrorists Clash Anew in Cam. Sur



CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur—Another clash between the government soldiers and CPP-NPA terrorists (CNT) transpired at the vicinity of Barangay Agao-ao, Ragay, Camarines Sur, Thursday, May 3.

According to the report, the troops coming from 93rd Division Reconnaissance Company were conducting security operation when they came across the temporary encampment of CNT being manned by more or less 20 terrorists belonging to KSPN1, Larangan 2, Komiteng Probinsya 1 of Bicol Regional Party Committee.

The said encounter lasted for about 20 minutes and resulted to the recovery of one M14 rifle, three magazines of M14, two magazines of M16, two laptop computers, 12 cellphones, three improvised explosive device, three blasting caps, five USB, subversive documents, and personal belongings. Upon sensing that they cannot withstand the fire and maneuver of the government troops, the terrorists immediately scampered towards the direction of Barangay Patalunan of the same municipality dragging along with them their injured comrades. There was no reported casualty on the operating troops while pursuit operation is being conducted to go after the fleeing enemies.

In the statement of 9th Infantry (Spear) Division under Maj. Gen. Jesus A Manangquil Jr AFP, the command said that they are currently launching security operations in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the people in areas wherein there were reports of NPA atrocities such as extortion and intimidation.

The command further stressed they will be more active in visiting the far-flung communities to guarantee that the CPP-NPA terrorists will not disrupt nor influence the conduct of Barangay and SK election.

Along this line, Maj. Gen. Manangquil once again called upon the remaining NPA members to lay down their arms and abandon the armed struggle so that peace and development in the region will be attained. He further said that the use of violence to effect change is not the best solution to address societal issues and concerns. Further, he encouraged the NPAs to avail the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) being offered by our government so that they can join in developmental initiatives that will really make difference in our society.
