6 CTG Members Slayed in Cam. Sur Encounter

 

 

CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur- Six (6) members of CPP-NPA Terrorists Group (CTG) were killed and numerous high-powered firearms were seized in an encounter in Barangay Lupi, Tinambac, Camarines Sur, on 6:25 am, January 30.

According to the report, the said clash took place when troops from 83rd Infantry (Matikas) Battalion, Philippine Army conducted operation in response to the information they received about the presence of 15-armed terrorists in the said place.

The said firefight ensued for almost 20 minutes and resulted to the death of six (6) CTG members and confiscation of three (3) M16 rifle, one (1) M16 with attached grenade launcher, ammunition, subversive documents and personnel belongings.

There was no reported casualty on the government side while pursuit operation is still on going.

The recent incident was the third clash recorded for this month due to the intensified operation being conducted by the Joint Task Force Bicolandia to address the CTG threats in the region.

Maj. Gen. Fernando T. Trinidad AFP, Commander 9ID and JTF Bicolandia, expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the civilians who continuously provide information to the authorities regarding the presence of the lawless elements in their respective communities. The Commander said that the recent accomplishments were clear manifestation that local populace are already sick of the abuses and atrocities being done by the terrorist group.

Meanwhile, the JTF Bicolandia also conveyed its condolences to the families of the slain CNTs while calling upon the remaining members of the armed group to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law so that they will not suffer the same fate.

The JTF Bicolandia also gave the assurance for those who will choose the peaceful path that the government will provide appropriate aid under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
